Founder Story

In a sports centre in Surrey, a vision took shape. With just six girls initially, Sophie Hollis laid the foundation for what would become Inspire Girls Football.

Inspired by her own love for football and fueled by a desire to provide girls with opportunities she didn’t have, Sophie embarked on a journey of empowerment.

Having dreamt of a career in football herself, Sophie’s path took a different turn after an injury redirected her focus towards coaching. Returning from America, she resolved to create something meaningful back home. In 2019, Inspire Girls Football was born.

Navigating the unfamiliar terrain of entrepreneurship, Sophie leaned on her passion for coaching and a supportive network. With determination and resilience, she transformed an idea into a thriving community. From six girls in her first session, to over 10,000 ballers across the UK and Ireland.

Sophie’s journey exemplifies the power of perseverance.

Overcoming challenges became second nature. When faced with a lockdown, Sophie adapted, embracing technology to reach even more girls.

What began as a local initiative soon expanded, reaching schools and colleges across the UK and Ireland.

Rejecting the traditional academy model, Sophie prioritised individual development over numbers. She created an inclusive environment where every girl, regardless of skill level, felt valued and supported.

Today, Inspire Girls Football and Inspire Girls Football Academy continue to flourish under Sophie’s leadership.

With a commitment to empowerment and growth, Sophie envisions a future where girls worldwide have access to the transformative power of football. From Surrey to beyond, the journey of Inspire Girls Football is one of inspiration, development and empowerment.
